Report: Braves still believe they will trade Justin Upton

Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves could lose a prospective trade partner in the San Diego Padres should they land Wil Myers, but it doesn't mean the team has lost hope that they won't be able to deal outfielder Justin Upton.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports, the Braves still believe they will trade Upton by the Christmas holidays - even if the Padres are out of the running.

The Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers are among the teams still in search of outfield help and could form a trade partner with the Braves.

Upton, who has one-year, $14.5 million remaining on his deal, has seen his place in the Braves outfield come into question after they signed Nick Markakis to a four-year deal. There has also been no talks regarding an extension by either the Braves or Upton.

A two-time All-Star, Upton slashed .270/.342/.491 with 29 home runs and 102 RBIs in 154 games last season.
