Less than 24 hours after Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Farhan Zaidi squashed trade rumors surrounding Dee Gordon, Zaidi had a change of heart.

The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Gordon, Dan Haren, Miguel Rojas, and a player to be named later or cash considerations to the Miami Marlins, the club announced late Wednesday night. The deal was first reported by CBS Sports' Jon Heyman

The Dodgers received left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney, second baseman Enrique Hernandez, infielder Austin Barnes, and pitcher Chris Hatcher in the deal.

The Dodgers then flipped Heaney hours later to the Los Angeles Angels for second baseman Howie Kendrick.

Gordon is controllable for four more years, and is fresh off his first All-Star appearance after hitting .289 and stealing 64 bases. His departure should clear the way for Alex Guerrero to become the everyday second baseman for the Dodgers next season.

Heaney is Miami's No. 1-ranked prospect according to MLB.com. The 23-year-old got his first taste of the majors last season, and it wasn't pretty - he went 0-3 with a 5.83 ERA in seven appearances - but the future remains bright for the southpaw.

Haren, however, previously suggested a willingness to retire if he was traded this winter to any club outside of southern California, and said in a statement after being informed of the deal that he intends to "evaluate (his) options carefully before making any decisions."

Michael Hill, Marlins president of baseball operations, said the team will receive no additional player compensation if Haren chooses to retire.

News of the trade dropped only an hour after the Dodgers reportedly acquired Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins.
