The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with closer David Robertson on a four-year contract, as first reported by USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale.
Multiple reports have the deal worth $46 million.
Robertson, the top closer available on the open market, was also being pursued by his former team, the New York Yankees, and the Houston Astros, among others.
The 29-year-old recorded 39 saves in 44 chances for the Bronx Bombers last season.
The White Sox are also reportedly close to acquiring right-hander Jeff Samardzija from the Oakland Athletics for pitching prospects. The deal could made official as early as Tuesday morning.
General manager Rick Hahn has been very active this offseason, previously signing pitcher Zach Duke and Adam LaRoche to multi-year deals.
A detailed breakdown of Robertson's contract should be available in the hours and days to come.
