The departure of Hanley Ramirez to free agency left a hole for the Los Angeles Dodgers at shortstop that they could soon fill.
Los Angeles is reportedly aggressively pursuing Chicago White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez in trade talks, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Ramirez is coming off an impressive season in which he slashed .273/.305/.408 with 15 home runs and 74 RBIs in 158 games, en route to his first All-Star appearance.
The 33-year-old has been exceptionally durable over his career, appearing in 158 games in each of the last four seasons.
Ramirez is under contract for $10 million next season, with a $10-million team option for 2016.
