Report: Blue Jays' Happ generating a lot of trade interest
Despite the Toronto Blue Jays exercising J.A. Happ's $6.7-million team option on Friday, the left-hander's days with the team could be numbered.
Shi Davidi of Sportsnet is reporting that Happ has been generating lots of interest, opening the door for the team to possibly trade him.
General manager Alex Anthopoulos opted to exercise first baseman Adam Lind's $7.5-million team option on Saturday before trading him to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for pitcher Marco Estrada.
Happ, acquired from the Houston Astros in 2012, has gone 19-20 with a 4.39 ERA in 291 innings with Toronto. The 32-year-old has battled injuries over the past two seasons, missing three months after he was hit in the head by a comebacker in 2013 and one month last season with tightness in his lower back.
