Kansas City radio station responds to Lorde ban with all-day airing of 'Royals'

Thanks to two San Francisco radio stations, Giants fans won't be hearing much of Lorde's hit song "Royals" during the World Series.

Listeners of 99.7 The Point in Kansas City, however, can get their fix a dozen times Tuesday.

Program director Tony Lorino said his station will air the song every hour on the hour from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. in anticipation of Game 1.

"I respect the work of Mr. Brian Figula, 96.5 KOIT Program Director, and his team of broadcast professionals at our sister stations in San Francisco, but we won’t let their anti-Royals spirit ruin this moment," Lorino said on the station's website. "A few angry San Franciscans who don’t have a song called ‘Giants’ won’t rain on our parade."

Over the weekend, a pair of San Francisco-based stations announced they won't play the song during the Fall Classic after receiving complaints from Giants fans on social media.
