Stanton needed to be loaded on a stretcher and left the ballpark in an ambulance after getting hit flush is his left cheek area by Brewers starter Mike Fiers.

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke left a visably shaken Fiers in the game after Stanton was carted off to face his replacement Reed Johnson, which proved to be a very poor managerial decision.

Marlins reliever Anthony DeSclafani retaliated in the bottom of the sixth inning, plunking Carlos Gomez in the arm with a pitch and was immediately ejected without incident. Gomez, who has a reputation for stirring things up, surprisingly kept his cool.
