A lot can happen in the next five days leading up to the non-waiver trade deadline, and a Boston Red Sox source told ESPN the team is "working on a lot of things."
The Los Angeles Dodgers, a team thought to be a potential landing spot for Tampa Bay Rays' David Price, had discussions with the Red Sox about Jon Lester.
A major league source noted the talks haven't progressed very far to date, though the Dodgers were Boston's trading partner for the massive 2012 trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett to Los Angeles.
Lester said Friday that he is prepared to be dealt, and would consider signing returning to Boston in free agency even if he was traded.
