In the bottom of the first inning of Tuesday's All-Star Game, 14-time MLB All-Star Derek Jeter stepped to the plate to lead off.

In a fitting tribute, rather than introduce Jeter, the public address team instead played a clip of legendary New York Yankees P.A. man Bob Sheppard introducing The Captain. The home plate umpire, catcher Jonathan Lucroy and pitcher Adam Wainwright all stepped aside to afford Jeter his moment.

Jeter then stepped in, took a pitch low for ball one, and then got his pitch. Wainwright fired a 90 MPH cut fastball right down the heart of the plate, and Jeter ripped it the other way for a double to the right field corner.

Mike Trout would follow with an RBI triple to score Jeter, who is now 12-of-26 as an All-Star. His first ever All-Star hit came in 2000, when he hit a double off of Randy Johnson.
