Report: Scouts from Blue Jays, Orioles, Red Sox attended Samardzija's last start
Scouts from Baltimore, Boston and Toronto were in attendance for Chicago Cubs right-hander Jeff Samardzija's most recent outing, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
It's possible the clubs were scouting other players during the June 12 game in Pittsburgh, although all three teams are believed to be in the market for starting pitching. In that outing, Samardzija gave up four runs and issued two walks in six innings while striking out seven.
Rosenthal's scoop comes on the heels of a Chicago Sun-Times report stating the Cubs have engaged several teams in trade talks for Samardzija and right-hander Jason Hammel.
The Blue Jays, who have long been linked to Samardzija in rumors, were listed alongside Atlanta and Seattle as clubs that have reportedly spoken with Chicago regarding the pair.
