VIDEO: Giants' Sandoval takes hilariously late swing to force an errant throw

Mark J. Rebilas / USA Today Sports

It's been a tough start to the season for Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval, who's hitting just .173 through 30 games. But on Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Kung Fu Panda showed that even when you're slumping, you can always do the little things to help your team win.

In the top of the second inning, with Brandon Belt on first base, Sandoval took a pitch well inside from Pirates starter Charlie Morton. But the hit-and-run was on, Belt was already on his way to second, and catcher Tony Sanchez looked to have plenty of time to throw him out.

So Sandoval did the only thing he could think to do; he took a wild swing, his bat flying up into Sanchez's line of sight, and forced an overthrow into center field.

It turned what would've been a 1-1 count into an 0-2 count, but good teammates will always make sacrifices when necessary. The important thing was that Belt ended up at third base, and would come into score on a sac fly two batters later.
