Marlins' Adam Conley: Focused on improving stamina

Conley altered his diet and workout routine this offseason in an effort to improve his stamina in 2017, The Sun-Sentinel reports. "I was born a tall skinny guy," Conley said. "Rather than try to change that, I'm going to use what I have to the best of my ability and just be as strong and as durable as possible."

Analysis:

A finger injury cost him over a month of action in the second half last year, but more worrying was a drop in velocity -- after occasionally touching 97 mph with his fastball in April, he wound up averaging just 91.0 mph on the season. If Conley can maintain his heat into the summer, the 26-year-old could improve on his career-high 8.4 K/9 in 2016, but he'll also need to work on his 4.2 BB/9 if he's going to take a significant step forward in his development.
