Yankees' Cashman pulling for Cubs-Indians World Series

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman wants to see those who had the pleasure of doing business with him in the Fall Classic.

The Yankees executive dealt away two of the game's best relievers earlier this season when he shipped Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs and Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians for a healthy return of prospects. Now, he hopes both those teams are the one's competing in the World Series.

"I want the teams that stepped up and made those trades to be rewarded for doing so," Cashman told the New York Daily News' John Harper in a phone interview Friday. "It would justify the action they took.

"I have absolutely no regrets about the deals we made - other than being in the position we were in. We did what we had to do, and hopefully everybody wins."

With one of the best relief corps during the first half of the season, the Yankees were expected to dismantle their bullpen in an attempt to acquire younger stars to initiate a full rebuild.

Based on early results, Cashman may just see his wish come true, as both Cleveland and the Cubs hold leads in their Championship Series over the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers, respectively.
