Fan throws beer at Kim as he catches fly ball

Nick Turchiaro / USA TODAY Sports

For the second time in two years, debris is flying onto the field from the Rogers Centre bleachers.

As Baltimore Orioles left fielder Hyun Soo Kim camped under a fly ball off the bat of pinch-hitter Melvin Upton Jr. near the left-field fence, a can of beer was thrown at him as he caught the inning-ending out during Tuesday's wild-card game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

While Kim made the play, center fielder Adam Jones got into a shouting match with fans.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter proceeded to come out on the field to discuss with umpires which fan it was, and presumably asking for their ejection from the stadium.

This isn't the first time the situation has occurred at Rogers Centre, as a fan also did it to Nate McLouth in 2013:

While the can didn't hit Kim, MLB rules state that if a spectator interferes with any thrown or batted ball, the ball is dead at the moment of interference and the umpires shall impose penalties based on their opinion.
