Giants' Johnny Cueto: Leaves Tuesday with lower-body injury

Cueto left Tuesday's game against the Dodgers in the sixth inning with an apparent lower-body injury, the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman reports. He tossed 5.1 shutout innings while allowing eight hits, walking two and striking out six before exiting.

Analysis:

The injury appeared to be to Cueto's left leg or groin, possibly muscle-related. He was visited by the trainers, threw some warmup pitches and stayed in for a couple minutes before then calling for manager Bruce Bochy to take him out. It's good that this isn't an arm injury, but with less than two weeks left in the season, a lower-body injury could still mean the end of Cueto's year. His status will be updated when the Giants provide an official diagnosis.
