Giants' Denard Span: Steals ninth base Sunday
Span went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks and his ninth stolen base of the season in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Padres.
Analysis:
Despite failing to get a hit, Span was actually one of the Giants' more-productive batters on a day when the team only amassed two hits. He will need to improve his batting average (.248) and career-low slugging percentage (.339) in the second half because single-digit stolen bases in July are hard to swallow when coupled with only 19 extra-base hits.
