The Rays throttled the Astros, 10-4, at Minute Maid Park yesterday, salvaging one game over the weekend in Houston. Tampa Bay has tallied 10+ runs six times since the All-Star break -- tied with the Rockies for most in the majors.

Boston lost, 10-4, at home to the Royals last night, dropping two of three over the weekend, and falling to 1-4 in its last five games overall. The Red Sox are just 3-9 in their last 12 games vs. AL opponents at Fenway Park (3-0 vs. NL - Arizona).

Tampa Bay has won two straight vs. Boston, but the Sox lead the season series by the count of 7-6. These clubs have met 16 times at Fenway Park since the beginning of 2015, each winning eight of those games.

Matt Andriese went 6.0 innings and allowed three runs (all earned) vs. the Red Sox five days ago, settling for a no-decision, and snapping his personal three-game losing streak in the process. Andriese is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in two career starts against the Red Sox.

BOSTON -- Drew Smyly has a chance to break a team record Wednesday when he closes the Tampa Bay Rays' three-game series with the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
The left-hander, who faces Steven Wright as he tries to help his team win the three-game series in the rubber game, has thrown 20 1/3 straight scoreless innings -- eight this season -- against the Red Sox. The Rays' record is the 25 1/3 straight spun by Matt Garza against the Toronto Blue Jays in 2008.
