The Astros beat the Yankees, 4-1, on Wednesday to salvage one win in the three-game series. Following a six-game home stand, the Astros now head on the road where they are 10-4 since June 14 (13-21 before then).

Detroit picked up a win over Boston on Wednesday, 4-3, to complete a three-game sweep at Fenway Park. Following a seven-game road trip, the Tigers now return to Comerica Park, where they are 21-10 since May 16 which is tied for best in the American League with the Orioles.

The Astros and Tigers met earlier this season in April when the Astros took two of three at Minute Maid Park, with each team scoring nine runs in the series. The Tigers are 12-5 all-time against the Astros at Comerica Park.

Collin McHugh picked up his second consecutive win last Saturday, allowing just two earned runs over 6.0 innings against the Angels. McHugh is 2-1 with a 2.66 ERA in July, as opposed to 5-5 with a 4.58 ERA prior to this month.

Matt Boyd gave up three runs (one earned) over 4.1 innings against the White Sox last Saturday, and did not receive a decision. Boyd has faced the Astros just once, allowing five earned runs and two homers over just 5.0 innings on August 16, 2015.

Over his past eight games, Miguel Cabrera is batting .481 with three home runs, seven RBI, and a 1.477 OPS. Since joining the Tigers in 2008, Cabrera is batting .312 with eight home runs and 20 RBI against the Astros.

DETROIT (AP)  The Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros matched two-run ninth-inning comebacks Saturday night. Luckily for the Tigers, they had the last one.
Jose Iglesias capped a two-out rally with an infield single to score Tyler Collins, and the Tigers won their fifth straight game with a 3-2 victory over the Astros.
