The Rangers lost, 2-1, on the road to the Yankees on Thursday, their second consecutive loss after winning the previous four games. The Yankees won the game in walkoff fashion, the Rangers' ninth walkoff loss on the year (most in MLB).

The Twins fell to the White Sox, 6-5, on Thursday at Chicago, their fifth loss in their last seven games. Minnesota went 10-17 (.370) in June, third-worst in the American League.

Meeting for the first time this season, the Rangers and Twins split the 2015 season series three wins apiece. Since Target Field opened in 2010, the Twins are 14-10 against the Rangers at home.

Martin Perez picked up his seventh win of the season on Sunday versus the Red Sox, giving up just one earned run over six innings of work. Perez has won each of his last six decisions, matching his career-long streak set in 2013 (August 5 -- September 3).

Ervin Santana did not receive a decision on Saturday on the road versus the Yankees, allowing just one earned run over five innings. Over his career, Santana is 13-11 with a 5.67 ERA versus the Rangers, his second-highest ERA against any team he has faced at least five times (5.78 versus the Yankees).

Minnesota bounced back from a three-game losing streak in a big way Saturday afternoon, and now the Twins are seeking their biggest series victory of the season in Sunday's finale against the Texas Rangers.
The Twins (26-54) had a historic performance from Max Kepler, who drove in a club rookie record seven runs, blasting a pair of home runs -- including a three-run shot -- as Minnesota cruised to a 17-5 victory at Target Field.
