Toronto forced Game 6 with a 7-1 home win in Game 5 Wednesday. Teams trailing 3-2 and facing Games 6 and 7 on the road have lost 19 of the last 21 series, going back to 1992. The only teams to win a series in that scenario since 1992 were the 2003 Marlins (vs. Cubs, NLCS) and 2004 Red Sox (vs. Yankees, ALCS).

The Royals had scored at least five runs with at least eight hits in each of their previous six postseason games -- averaging 8.2 runs and 10.3 hits -- before being held to one run on four hits by Marco Estrada and the Blue Jays in Game 5. Still, their .270 team batting average and 5.90 runs per game this postseason easily rank as the best among the 10 playoff teams.

And stoic closer Wade Davis, who let out a fierce roar Friday night when the Royals recorded the final out in Game 6 of the AL Championship Series, a white-knuckle, 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
