American League Game Summary - Detroit at Oakland

Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jesse Hahn's first career shutout spurred Oakland to its longest win streak of the season after the Athletics downed the Detroit Tigers 4-0 at O.co Coliseum.

Hahn (2-4) yielded a mere four hits and one walk to halt a five-start winless stretch and carry the A's to a third consecutive triumph. The young right- hander kept Detroit's bats silent by recording 15 ground-ball outs, six of which came on three double plays.

Oakland hadn't won three in a row since August 7-9 of last season.

The A's got all their runs during a sixth-inning outburst against Shane Greene highlighted by RBI doubles from Max Muncy and Sam Fuld. Billy Butler added a run-scoring single while finishing 2-for-4.

Greene (4-3) didn't make it out of the sixth, with five of his eight hits allowed coming during the pivotal frame.

With star slugger Miguel Cabrera out of the lineup for rest purposes, Detroit didn't register an extra-base hit en route to a third straight loss.

"When we need a big inning offensively or defensively, it goes in the opposite direction," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "It's frustrating."

Greene was able to pitch around Josh Reddick's one-out triple in the fourth inning and stranded a pair of A's in the fifth, but Oakland's bats came alive the following frame to end the scoreless deadlock.

Marcus Semien and Reddick delivered back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners with none out and Butler reached on an infield hit two batters later to knock in the game's first run. Muncy then doubled into the gap in right center to bring home Reddick and Butler scored on Mark Canha's sac fly for a 3-0 advantage.

Fuld swatted Greene's next -- and final -- pitch into the right-field corner to plate Muncy for the fourth run of the inning.

While Greene faltered in the sixth, Hahn was terrific all afternoon long. He set down 11-of-13 Detroit hitters through four innings of play, with Nick Castellanos' single in the second the lone Tigers' hit over that span.

Detroit's only real threat came when Tyler Collins opened the fifth with a single and Castellanos reached on Semien's 17th error of the season. Hahn used the ground ball to get out of trouble, though, inducing a 6-4-3 double play from James McCann to help the game remain scoreless.

Hahn finished off his 112-pitch gem by surrendering only two more singles over the final four innings.

"Once you get two outs and are under 115 (pitches), I'm going to give him a chance to get the complete game," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said of Hahn. "Another hit right there and that would've been it for him."
