The Rangers dropped two of three at home to the Angels, April 13-15. But Texas won two of its three road series against the Angels in 2014.

The Rangers have had great success so far in 2015 when they jump on the first pitch of any at-bat; they are hitting .404 (21/52) on 0-0 counts, but just .193 (89/460) on all other counts.

The Angels beat Oakland 2-0 on Thursday despite having just one hit -- a two-run home run by Kole Calhoun in the third inning -- in the game. It was the third time in franchise history that the Angels won a game in which they recorded just one hit; but the first time doing this while also shutting out their opponent.

Prince Fielder has nine games with two or more hits this season, which leads the AL and is third most in the majors. Fiedler is batting 5-for-11 (.455) against the Angels this season, with two multi-hit games.

Colby Lewis has struggled when there are no outs in an inning so far this season; opposing batters are hitting .355 (11/31) against him with zero outs, compared to just .225 (9/40) when there are one or two outs.

Garrett Richards allowed just five home runs in 168.2 innings of work last season, tying Andy Messersmith (who did it in 1972) for the fewest homers allowed by any Angels' pitcher in a single season  (minimum 150.0 IP) in franchise history. Richards allowed one home run in his lone appearance so far in 2015.
