Cristiano Ronaldo on Atletico Madrid: 'They don't play attractive football'
Cristiano Ronaldo is not a supporter of Atletico Madrid's style of play.
Following Real Madrid's 2-2 draw against their city rivals on Thursday, a result that secured the club's exit from the Copa del Rey, Ronaldo didn't hold back his thoughts on Atleti's approach to the match, referring to it as unattractive while refusing to use it as an excuse for his side's elimination.
"They don't play attractive football: they sit back and just wait for dead balls, but it works for them and you have to respect that," Ronaldo said, according to Marca. "Everyone has their opinion, but I don't want to take anything away from them. We're focused on what we do."
Ronaldo scored Real Madrid's second goal of the match that provided them a lifeline, but it was ultimately nothing more than a consolation as Atleti advanced 4-2 on aggregate.
