Griezmann: I would only leave Atletico 'if Simeone was to go'
Antoine Griezmann isn't interested in leaving Atletico Madrid any time soon ... unless the club's beloved gaffer heads out the door first.
Simeone was linked with an exit in the summer prior to the start of the 2016-17 La Liga campaign, around the same time Griezmann had started the process of negotiating a new deal with the Madrid-based club.
While Griezmann did agree to the new deal without much fuss, he also admitted to having a conversation with his manager about their future before signing.
"I would only leave if Simeone was to go," Griezmann told Telefoot, as quoted by ESPN FC.
"The only thing I wanted to know was whether there was a possibility that Simeone would go to Paris Saint-Germain. Simeone is a very important person for me, and that is why I called him before renewing.
"He told me he was staying and that was sufficient for me. I'm happy in Spain and I have a lot of things to learn from him."
