Despite losing some wobble on the waistline after turning up to preseason training overweight, Samir Nasri could still leave Manchester City before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

BBC Sport's Simon Stone understands Sevilla is interested in brokering a deal, but won't organise a medical for the formerly meaty midfielder until wages are agreed upon with the Frenchman's representatives.

Nasri, 29, was handed his first appearance of the season off the bench against West Ham United on Sunday - a scenario which seemed unlikely when the ex-Arsenal man was excluded from friendlies due to his weight issues - and Pep Guardiola praised his return to fitness post-match.

"Nasri can stay. Samir arrived overweight, but after seven days, 10 days, it was fantastic how he trained. His quality is another level," said the Spanish gaffer.

But there were lingering doubts that his recent exclusion from the Champions League squad still meant a peripheral role or likely exit from the club. Stone believes a touted transfer to Besiktas has fallen through, but that Sevilla's Nasri interest could spell a late deal brokered in the window.

Another player similarly left out of continental commitments is Eliaquim Mangala, the defender who cost up to £42 million from FC Porto two years ago. The 25-year-old has never appeared comfortable at City, and is apparently being eyed by his former club and various other outfits.
