Vidal slams 'ugly', undeserving Atletico after Bayern elimination

Arturo Vidal has not taken Bayern Munich's Champions League exit lightly, calling Atletico Madrid's brand of football "ugly" and saying it doesn't deserve progression into the final.

Atletico lost 2-1 on the night, but Antoine Griezmann's 54th-minute strike meant Diego Simeone's side won on a 2-2 aggregate scoreline courtesy of the away-goal rule.

"Today there was one team who played ugly football against the best team in the world," Vidal told COPE radio via ESPN FC after Bayern had out passed its opponent 668-212 and bossed possession on Tuesday.

"We were the better team. We managed the game, but we did not take the chances we had. The only time they saw the ball was their goal."

When asked if he believed the La Liga club deserved its route into the final in Milan, Vidal replied: "Definitely not. Definitely not.

"They will dream about us. They did not have the ball, they were up against the best team in the world, they took their chances and they are going to the final. In football the best team does not always win, as happened today."

Atletico will move on to the biggest stage in club football on May 28, and will learn of its opponent in the final when Real Madrid and Manchester City battle it out at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
