PSG boss admits that Lavezzi's January departure is unlikely

With the January transfer window scheduled to close Monday, Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has conceded that Ezequiel Lavezzi will stay with the capital club until his contract expires in the summer.

"We have been very clear with Lavezzi. We have been very, very clear with him," Blanc told reporters in advance of Sunday's game at Saint-Etienne.

"I don't want to tell you what we said - but we have been very clear with him, from the beginning of the season until this transfer window."

Looking to salvage the majority of the €30 million spent to pry the Argentine away from Napoli in 2012, PSG isn't compelled to sell Lavezzi just for the sake of cleaning house.

"We have been very clear on his situation," Blanc said. "He cannot say the contrary. We all know that if someone wants to leave the club, all the parts of the club must agree.

"Apparently it is not the case, because he hasn't moved."

Lavezzi has appeared in 16 league matches this season, but only three as a starter, scoring twice.

With reports suggesting that Lavezzi could be poised for a return to Serie A with Inter Milan, the player's agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, admits that a move won't likely happen until the summer.

"Inter have always been interested in him. I speak with (Inter's sporting director Piero) Ausilio a lot because he's a friend, but only to talk about the transfer market," Mazzoni told Mediaset television.

"He still has six months on his contract and we'll have to see about what happens after. He's not going anywhere in January. He likes Italian football a lot, so we'll just have to see."
