Aguero: Leicester's an example of why Premier League is world's best

Sergio Aguero is raring to face Leicester City, which is a team that, along with its Premier League top scorer Jamie Vardy, the Argentine admires greatly.

Saturday's clash sees the host Manchester City one place below the table-topping Foxes - a scenario none predicted at the start of the campaign - and Aguero is relishing playing in such a tight division.

"Is there any other league out there with so many teams vying for the top position? It's just uncanny," Aguero told the club's website.

"They say that major teams are inconsistent but I say the opposite - there's a lot of consistency. It's just harder because there are some brilliant teams out there, and we are all playing to win."

The performances of Leicester have seldom dipped this season and the side's pressing and counter-attacking game has rightly earned admiring glances from far beyond the British Isles.

"We have such a beautiful tournament in England where everyone can fight with equal standing. Leicester City are a prime example of this and they are where they are on merit and nothing less," Aguero said.

Vardy's goal-scoring exploits have broken records and his opening goal against Liverpool on Tuesday has drawn comparisons to Marco van Basten. It's high praise, and last year's Golden Boot winner Aguero piled some more on the former non-league striker.

"When a striker scores as many goals as he has, and so consistently, it speaks for itself," he added. "He's always on the prowl, has a scent for goals and a lot of precision in front of goal.

"He is having a fantastic season and deserves all the praise he's been getting."
