Report: Swansea City targeting Marcelo Bielsa for manager's role
Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has set off for South America in search of the club's next manager, with Marcelo Bielsa emerging as the main target, reports Allan Valente of Sky Sports.
Bielsa, who stepped down from his post at Marseille after just one game earlier this season, is currently out of work.
Jenkins has also pegged Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli and former Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella as candidates to succeed Garry Monk. Swansea sacked Monk last week - a decision, Jenkins said, the Swans made "very reluctantly and with a heavy heart."
Current AEK Athens manager Gus Poyet had been the bookmakers' favourite to take the Swansea job, while Manchester United assistant coach Ryan Giggs also saw his name linked to the role.
But Jenkins has reportedly flown oversees to tempt Bielsa, who has been long admired at Liberty Stadium.
Bielsa, nicknamed "El Loco" for his explosive managerial style, returned to Argentina in August after handing in his letter of resignation to Marseille's president. He led the Ligue 1 club to a fourth-place finish in the 2014-15 season, just short of a Champions League spot.
