Sergio Aguero: 'I will return to Independiente when my contract expires with City'
Back in 2003, Sergio Aguero took the pitch for Club Atletico Independiente and made his professional debut at the age of 15 years and 35 days, breaking a record held by Diego Maradona.
In 2019, Aguero's career will come full circle.
Speaking to So Foot, El Kun, 28, revealed he will be rejoining the club from Independiente once his contract expires at Manchester City, referring to the club from Buenos Aires, Argentina as the one of his heart.
"I will return to Independiente when my contract with City expires," he said, according to Sky Sports. "I do not want to make my comeback when I am too old. If everything goes well, I will return to the club of my heart at the age of 31."
Aguero's comments echo those he made in October, when, in conversation with Independiente, he announced: "I'm a supporter since I was a boy, I'll be here soon."
El Kun, a nickname given to him because of his likeness to a Japanese cartoon character, joined Independiente as a nine-year-old and went on to tally 23 goals in 53 appearances before crossing the Atlantic Ocean and putting pen to paper with Atletico Madrid.
