FA suspends Arsenal's Gabriel Paulista 1 match for improper conduct
Gabriel Paulista has been handed a one-match ban by the Football Association for his admitted improper conduct during Arsenal's 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Saturday.
The English governing body confirmed the ruling Friday, saying the charge stems from the Brazilian defender's behaviour after match official Mike Dean unveiled a red card. He was also fined £10,000 for his actions.
Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct.
The suspension means Paulista will miss Saturday's clash against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, with Per Mertesacker expected to link up with Laurent Koscielny at the back.
Paulista was originally given a three-match ban for his part in the altercation until the FA reviewed footage of the match and rescinded the suspension. In turn, Chelsea forward Diego Costa was slapped with a three-match suspension.
