Money talks, and Manchester City has more of it than almost any other football club on the planet.

The Citizens, having already reached deep into their pockets to sign Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi this summer, announced Sunday the capture of Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg, capping off a lavish transfer window with a signing that could very well put them over the top in the race for the Premier League crown.

De Bruyne is joining City on a six-year contract for a fee that is reportedly believed to be in the region of £51 million (€70 million).

While the Bundesliga club would have certainly preferred to keep hold of its playmaker extraordinaire, it proved impossible to turn down such a lucrative offer - particularly after Wolfsburg turned a marvelous profit, having purchased the Belgian for £18 million from Chelsea in 2014.

De Bruyne, 24, arrives at the Etihad on the back of a brilliant 2014-15 season, in which he scored 16 goals and provided 29 assists in all competitions for the Wolves.

"I want to reach the highest level possible as a player and I think the most important thing is that at the end of the season we can be happy and maybe have some titles," De Bruyne said. "I think this is the most important for the Club, the players and for the fans of course."
