Louis van Gaal on loss to Chelsea: Manchester United's best performance
Although Manchester United ended the day with a loss, manager Louis van Gaal doesn't seemed too bothered by his team's display against Chelsea.
The Dutch boss described the team's 1-0 defeat as the club's best performance of the season, despite his team's slim chances of winning the league title all-but erased.
"I am not frustrated. I am very proud of my team," Van Gaal told reporters.
"We played our best match of the season but in football you can lose a match even when you are the better team."
United enjoyed a majority of the possession and opportunities on net with 15 attempts, but Eden Hazard's first-half goal was all Chelsea needed to record the victory.
The loss leaves United 11 points behind the league leaders with five matches remaining, and keeps them one point back of second-place Arsenal.
"We are in a process but you have seen my team is always growing, improving every week. It is amazing how we have played here," Van Gaal declared. "It is unbelievable that the result is 1-0 but that's football.
"Our fans are disappointed we lost and I am disappointed we lost. That is a pity, especially after we played so well. I have very disappointed players. And I'm very disappointed. But I see that we are improving every week.
"When you can play at Chelsea, like this - as the dominant team - then I'm very happy with that. But I'm also very disappointed. And that's the ambivalence in my feelings."
Manchester United will look to bounce back against Everton on April 26.
