Romelu Lukaku on Chelsea: 'I don't have a secret ambition to rejoin'
Things didn't exactly work out for Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea.
The 21-year-old Belgian striker, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht in the summer of 2011, only made 10 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and was loaned out to both West Brom and Everton, the latter of which broke their transfer record by signing him to a permanent deal worth £28 million in the summer transfer window.
Although Lukaku isn't scoring at the furious rate he was last season - he's scored 10 goals in 36 appearances - it's likely only a matter of time before he moves to another top European club. And even though that's clearly what he wants, a return to Chelsea, who he featured against on Wednesday, doesn't appear to be in the cards.
"It was brilliant to play at Chelsea and I had a good reception," Lukaku told the Sun, according to Sky Sports. "They know I'm a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea.
"I don't have a secret ambition to rejoin - there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again."
Lukaku played all 90 minutes of Everton's 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Wednesday.
