On-loan winger Nani not ruling out return to Manchester United next season
Nani is not shutting the door on the possibility of a return to Manchester United next season.
The Portuguese winger, loaned to Sporting Lisbon this season as part of the deal that brought Marcos Rojo to England, was back at Old Trafford for Tuesday's international friendly against Argentina.
Given the circumstances, it was only natural that he was asked after the match about the chance of a return to the club, with whom he is contracted for another three seasons.
"Why not? I went out (to Sporting) to play more and get to my best. If there is an opportunity, we will see," he is quoted as saying by ESPN FC.
The 28-year-old has scored four goals for Sporting this season. Though he has shown flashes of the superb skill that once had some expecting him to be the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo at United, the wealth of attacking options already at the club - combined with the likelihood of further spending in the transfer market next summer - makes a potential return unlikely.
