Sergio Aguero: Questionable for Sunday's Match
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said Friday that he is unsure if Aguero will play Sunday against Newcastle. "He has had so many months without playing normally so we are trying to make a mix for him: a mix of pre-season training and trying to get him to our level to play for the team," manager Manuel Pellegrini said. "We will see on Sunday. I am not so sure if he will or will not."
Analysis:
Aguero is one of the Premier League's best scorers when he's fit, but that is something that plagued him last season. After playing for Argentina in the World Cup, he was delayed in preseason training for Manchester City, so it's entirely possible that Pellegrini could use him off the bench in the first few weeks of the season. If that happens, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic could start up front.
