Report: Timberwolves expect to trade Kevin Love by late August

The Minnesota Timberwolves appear to be waving the white flag.

Team owner Glen Taylor said Saturday the team expects to trade star power forward Kevin Love in late August, which coincides with Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Andrew Wiggins' no-movement freeze expiring.

"I'm saying it's most likely because Kevin has made it pretty clear that that's what he wants to do," Taylor told Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press.

Taylor continued: "I think when you move somebody like Kevin, who's been an all-star, that you've got to get a number of players on your team that have the potential of replacing him. Flip [Saunders] has looked at this team and offensively, he's got a pretty good team. Defensively, it's got to be better, so I think that's where some of the areas will be replaced."

Walters notes that Cleveland is still the front-runner to obtain Love, but the Timberwolves have had dialogue with the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls as well.
