Report: Swansea targets £13M splurge on Martin Olsson, Tom Carroll

Paul Clement isn't hanging around in the early days of his Swansea City tenure, with moves for Tottenham Hotspur's Tom Carroll and Norwich City's Martin Olsson apparently in the works.

The Swans have agreed a £5-million fee for Olsson, sources close to the club told ESPN FC's Peter O'Rourke, and this signing could be supplemented by the £8-million arrival of Carroll, according to The Telegraph's John Percy.

Although Norwich was relegated from the Premier League last term on the back of calamitous defending, left-back Olsson was the only player deserving of some credit when called upon. He would provide immediate cover for Neil Taylor, who will undergo surgery after fracturing his cheekbone in training, and competition for Falkirk product Stephen Kingsley.

Carroll, meanwhile, is still unable to break into the first-team setup at Tottenham at age 24, damaging his early career comparisons to ex-Spurs midfielder Luka Modric, who's now plundering trophies at Real Madrid.

Clement succeeded Bob Bradley earlier in January and is trying to make wholesale changes to the Swansea setup as the club attempts to drag itself from the relegation zone. Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele was drafted into Clement's coaching staff Wednesday.
