Blue Bombers' Harris to play in opener vs. Alouettes

It appears Winnipeg Blue Bombers fans won't have to wait to see the debut of free-agent acquisition Andrew Harris after all.

Harris suffered a hamstring injury in practice this week, but Winnipeg commentator Bob Irving said Thursday that Harris will start when the Blue Bombers host the Montreal Alouettes on Friday.

Winnipeg also released its depth chart for the contest, showing Harris in the top running back spot.

Harris was widely regarded as the top free agent this winter, so not having him miss time is key for the Blue Bombers. The 29-year-old eclipsed 1,000 yards on the ground with the BC Lions last season.
