Ilkay Gundogan casts doubt over Dortmund future
Ilkay Gundogan's days in a Borussia Dortmund strip could be numbered.
The German midfielder raised questions about his future with the club following his admission that he has yet to make a decision about his long-term plans.
"No decision has been taken yet and of course everything has to be thought through because the length of one's career is limited," he told Bild as translated by Sky Sports.
"To be honest everything is still open. I think it will go into that direction (of signing a long-term deal). When I sign, it will most likely not be for just a year."
The 25-year-old was the subject of various reports linking him with a move away from the Westfalenstadion until he signed a new contract designed to keep him at the Bundesliga club until 2017.
Manchester United were one of the teams heavily linked with a move for Gundogan and may consider making another attempt following his failure to commit his long-term future to Dortmund.
Dortmund may elect to sell him during the summer in order to receive a transfer fee before he's able to leave for free in the summer of 2017.
