Borussia Dortmund bans supporters from traveling after incident in Greece
Borussia Dortmund has prohibited its fans from traveling following an unruly incident during a match against PAOK in Greece during the Europa League.
The Bundesliga team acknowledged that members of Desperados Dortmund 1999 were largely responsible for disturbances in the stands with police.
"According to current information, the members of the ultra group were largely responsible for the burning and throwing of pyrotechnics as well as the resulting confrontations," the team said in a statement.
"Should the ongoing investigations reveal that people from other ultra or fan groups were involved in the incident, BVB will take equally decisive action against them."
The match, which ended 1-1, was momentarily delayed in the second half as Greek riot police approached Dortmund fans, who began to throw flares and fireworks.
