VIDEO: Manuel Neuer does Manuel Neuer things, gets exposed in midfield
There are many different kinds of goalkeepers out there.
Some are brilliant shot-stoppers, making diving leaps with outstretched palms to stop curling efforts in dramatic fashion; others are distributors, capable of picking out the longest of long passes to streaking forwards up ahead.
Then there's Bayern Munich 'keeper Manuel Neuer, who fancies himself an outfield player rather than a net-minder and was exposed for it (almost horrifically) against Wolfsburg.
Neuer came streaking into midfield to defend a 1-on-2 attack - if you could call it that - and instead got caught out, lunging in for a mistimed tackle and then watching as Wolfsburg attempted an impossibly long shot at goal as punishment.
Neuer was fortunate, though, as the ball went wide, saving him his blushes. The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the white-paint lines, you know?
