VIDEO: Novak Djokovic kicks it with a ball boy during a rain delay
It's always touching when pro athletes, so commonly maligned for being chilly and self-involved, give you a glimpse of the warmth bubbling beneath their oft-mystifying exteriors.
We got a moment like that on Monday when, during a rain delay in his first-round match at the French Open, Novak Djokovic - who, let's be honest, has always had a complicated relationship with fans and the media - went out of his way to give a Roland Garros ball boy a moment in the sun.
The ball boy had come over to hold an umbrella over Djokovic's head during the delay, but instead the world No. 2 graciously took the umbrella himself, and gestured for the boy to sit down beside him.
To cheers from the crowd at Court Phillipe Chatrier, the two shared a laugh, and a beverage, before play resumed.
Djokovic, by the way, went on to win the match, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
