The longer this tournament progresses, the more obvious it becomes: The World Cup is as much of a cultural phenomenon as it is a sporting competition.

As part of that status, a number of iconic figures associated with this year's event have moved past the sphere of soccer, even beyond the sporting world, and into the realm of cultural zeitgeist at large. No one's worldwide image has grown in popularity quite like that of the host nation's star forward Neymar's.

He's huge. And we know everything about him: How many bandages he's wearing on his legs, where he took that selfie of him and his team, what color of hair dye he used to transform his look.

Neymar is almost everywhere. And where he isn't, an artistic (in the loosest meaning of the word) representation of him is only blocks away. Or so it seems.

Not super menacing nightmare fuel, at all:

This would be an interpretation of Neymar slapping away the ghost of the 1950 World Cup final when Uruguay beat Brazil in Brazil. I'm not even kidding.

Last minute instructions to the painters: "Neymar needs incredibly large shoulders because he'll be carrying this squad."

The life likeness of the woman with the umbrella is a bit distracting:

This one actually looks really good:

This one, not so much:

These ones definitely come alive when no one is looking:

Bandit Neymar is the best Neymar:

Okay, our definition of art might be getting a little loose, here:

Unsurprisingly, Mr. Brazil loves Neymar almost as much as he loves caricatures:
