A scary scene unfolded at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo., on Sunday, as reigning Olympic snowboarding champion Iouri Podladtchikov was taken off on a stretcher after he landed hard on the edge of the halfpipe.
The Russian-born snowboarder, known to many as I-Pod, had his head and necked stabilized and was transported to a nearby hospital. He was diagnosed with a broken nose, and scans for brain and neck injuries came back negative, according to The Associated Press.
Podladtchikov won gold at the 2014 Sochi Olympics thanks to a well-executed 1440-degree trick. He had been prepping for the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.
