Wings fire coach Trammel, plan to hire GM
The Dallas Wings fired head coach Latricia Trammel, the team announced Friday.
Trammell went 9-31 this past season, her second in charge of the team. In her first season in 2023, which also marked her debut campaign as a head coach, Dallas went 22-18 before being swept in the playoffs by the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces.
"After an extensive review of our basketball operations department, which included interviews and conversations with stakeholders across our organization, I have made the decision to relieve Latricia Trammell of her head coaching duties with the Dallas Wings," Wings president Greg Bibb said in a statement. "On behalf of our entire organization, I thank Latricia for her efforts and wish her well moving forward."
The Wings' front-office executive added that the team will also begin a search for a general manager to run the team's day-to-day operations, including hiring a new head coach. Bibb has handled those duties since first stepping into his role in 2016.
Prior to taking over in Dallas, Trammell was an assistant on Derek Fisher's coaching staff with the Los Angeles Sparks from 2019-22. She was also an assistant with the Aces' former iteration, the San Antonio Stars, in 2017 but did not remain with the franchise when it moved to Las Vegas for the 2018 season.
