Chicharito misses out on El Trafico with injury
Los Angeles Galaxy star Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez won't play Saturday night against rivals Los Angeles FC after picking up a calf injury.
The Galaxy confirmed the news prior to the seventh installment of the El Trafico derby, forcing Guillermo Barros Schelotto to opt for a 4-4-2 setup with Cristian Pavon leading the line.
Chicharito's absence means both sides will be without their marquee El Tri forwards after reigning MVP Carlos Vela decided not to participate in the MLS is Back Tournament at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Jonathan dos Santos also isn't available for the Galaxy after the Mexican international required surgery for a hernia issue.
A January addition from Spain's Sevilla, Chicharito opened his Galaxy account in Monday's 2-1 defeat to the Portland Timbers.
