Report: Man United reach agreement to sign Sesko for up to €85M
Benjamin Sesko will undergo a medical at Manchester United after the English club reached an agreement in principle with RB Leipzig over his transfer, reports The Athletic's David Ornstein.
Leipzig approved United's offer of a guaranteed €76.5 million with a potential €8.5 million in add-ons, according to Ornstein.
Newcastle United's reported bid of an initial €82.5 million plus €2.5 million in bonuses was also accepted by Leipzig. However, Sesko picked Manchester United over the Tyneside club despite the latter's promise of Champions League football.
Manchester United are set to unleash a new-look attack in the 2025-26 campaign after also recruiting Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Cunha and Mbeumo could cost up to £133.5 million after the bonuses tied into their deals; adding Sesko to the recruitment drive takes United's potential summer outlay on their frontline to over £207 million.
The additional purchase of full-back Diego Leon from Paraguay's Cerro Porteno could surpass £6.5 million after add-ons, according to figures from The Athletic's Mark Critchley and Jessica Hopkins.
Sesko, 22, has scored 39 goals and assisted eight times over 87 appearances for Leipzig since joining from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023. United were first alerted to him in 2019 when he broke into Slovenian PrvaLiga side NK Domzale's senior team at 16, The Athletic's Carl Anka reports, and he's since developed into a 6-foot-5 battering ram in attack.
