Report: Infantino confirms Russia, Qatar World Cups won't change locations
New FIFA president Gianni Infantino has revealed that the World Cups in Russia and Qatar will go ahead as planned.
The voting for both tournaments occurred under the watch of deposed despot Sepp Blatter in 2010, and was under scrutiny for what many deemed an unfair process, something that is still undergoing investigation from Swiss prosecutors.
The human rights standards under Vladimir Putin's presidency and questionable labour laws in Qatar have also been called into question. The latter's need to accommodate to its climate by moving the tournament to the winter has also been a point of contention.
Despite the controversy shrouding both World Cups, Infantino pledged his support for the 2018 and 2022 showcases, according to Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol.
