How much is Kevin Strootman worth? 'No price because he's not for sale,' says Roma sporting director
Reports indicate that Manchester United are set to pursue Roma's Kevin Strootman during the winter transfer window as Louis Van Gaal is apparently interested in adding a "top-line central midfielder" to his squad.
Such a deal would likely cost United something in the range of £30 million, but on Thursday, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini announced a different price tag that he's attached to the 24-year-old midfielder, while claiming that "he's a problem for other clubs because he's not their player - he belongs to us."
Sabatini added: "I’m sure that he’ll get some offers, but we will do everything in our power to hold on to him."
Of course, sporting directors say things like this all the time, only for the player in question to eventually be sold. However, this isn't the first time that Sabatini has stressed Strootman remaining at Roma. In the summer, Sabatini responded to transfer rumors surrounding his prized midfielder by stating: "We've never discussed that possibility within the club."
